Neighborhood mascot

Recently, during a stormy afternoon, I was caught by surprise when looking out the window. I spotted an Egret perched on the neighbor’s roofline. He stayed put long enough for me to fumble for my camera and snap 20 digital pictures before he flew off. This is a first for me in the nearly ten years of living on Brock Cir.

Observation

I know we need the wet weather, but occurring during Spring Break is a bummer. The kids are suffering "cabin fever" and the patio stays wet enough to prevent chalk drawing and ball playing. I'll remain optimistic that April showers will bring May flowers.

I'm watching doppler and the green is growing closer. It's time to re-tarp the trailer hitch and bring down Old Glory for a few days.

Observation

The weekend weather is spilling over to the work week. The neighborhood is in full bloom with spring flowers and budding trees. The wind has declined allowing many of the battered blooms to recover and show their colors. The forecast is calling for cloudy skies and a chance of rain on Tuesday. Good news for those of us who water on Tuesday nights due to water restrictions. Get outside and enjoy it while it lasts!

Observation

This morning, my bicycle work commute was superb. The level to downhill ride had no obstacles and there was no chill in the air. Another day like this I would shed my outer shell layer and go without sleeves. As I told someone in passing -- this is why I live in California. The spring time can be awesome!

Observation

Today, I repaired the FTP transmission problem to get the front yard images to reappear on the home page and 1-5 page. Recently, I installed IE 8 and had some serious usability problems, which caused me to rollback. Somehow that rollback disabled FTP and what a pain trying to troubleshoot. I ended up resetting to factory defaults in IE 7, which also had some problems. I like technology, but I don’t like when it gets in my way.

I’m watching the light winds move the leaves across the street. I’m trying to decide when the wind will be at its lowest so I can bike along the American River Trail for 20-25 miles. I haven’t been out since Saturday’s Folsom Lake Crossing Bridge opening.

Observation

This morning, the tree leaves are still, El Dorado Hills is visible with haze in the background, and the lawn is wet from the sprinklers (our day to water due to 3rd stage water conservation). The Easter flowers have lost their blooms due to the 30 mph gusts from Sunday.

Observation

The wind has declined from yesterday's uproar. The blossoms on the cherry, peach, and dogwood trees survived the pounding. Now, it is time to get back outside and finish what I started -- weed pulling the other three sides of the house; only the front is done. Sigh.

Retirement?

Maybe in retirement, I can have a view like this with a weather station mounted to a tree on the left :p The picture was taken in Capitola, CA on Jan. 17.

Added hyperlink

I added a weather station history hyperlink to Weather Underground on http://www.folsomcaweather.com. It has a great breakdown of conditions via a tabbed GUI format.

Check it out http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=KCAFOLSO6.
